The space

Welcome to our delightfully antiquated but oh-so-spacious five-bedroom house just a minute from downtown!

With a table that seats 12 and 8 beds it’s ideal for large families, work trips and groups of friends who’d prefer not to cuddle.

This grand old dame has seen more than a century of sunrises, and honestly I hope I’m in half as good of shape as she is when I’m her age.

Please read the entire listing, I would rather you book the right space for your trip than have sad pandas when you realize it’s a vintage 120 yr old house and there’s no designer anything.

If you want to stay somewhere that feels more like a home where you can relax without worrying if your kid is going to scratch hieroglyphics into the $2,000 coffee table that’ll come out of your security deposit, then this is the place for you!

I know the pictures look amazing – but they gloss over things like the fact that the kitchen is not going to win any awards with a portable dishwasher, the bathroom is cozy to say the least and the laundry area is in the unfinished potentially spooky basement.
It even comes with a bonus abandoned clawfoot bathtub.
Hello amenities!

Think of her not as “outdated,” but as “retro-chic”.
She’s treated with love and respect in return for the unique opportunity she provides being a standalone house with tons of parking in a quiet neighbourhood right close to downtown.

Alas, she serves her purpose well and honestly we kinda love it.

The beds are comfy and plentiful, a plethora of pillows, linens so clean they almost squeak.

For your weekend in the city:

✔Fully stocked kitchen -oil, salt, pepper, coffee, tea, sugar, pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, bakeware, cutting board, knives, dinnerware, wine and cocktail glasses, kids cutlery, and even an ice bucket!
✔Fully stocked linens and towels
✔Enough cleaning supplies to impress even the most judgemental of aunts.

(But you don’t have to clean!! Just put garbage in the bins and dishes in the dishwasher, that’s it!)

Perfect for budget-friendly family brigades or a night out downtown with friends, this just works. Everyone pitch in.

Large families don’t need to be split up between multiple hotel rooms.
One bathroom!? More like one adventure.

That aside, we welcome children but please note it is not childproofed apart from providing baby gates.
We welcome everyone and anyone for that matter.
We also welcome pets as long as they’re not puppies/kittens and fully housetrained.

After every group checks out I hire professional cleaners to inspect and detail the place, steam clean and sanitize.

Local attractions are a short adventure away, and if you’re keen on green, parks, playgrounds and paths are just around the corner.

-4 min to downtown Commercial Core
-2 min to 17th ave aka the red mile (nightlife)
-10 min to BMO Center, Saddledome, Stampede Grounds.
-Foothills and Rockyview Hospital both 10 min.
-20 min International Airport YYC
-All Calgary University campuses, SAIT, ACAD are 5-10 min.
-Canmore 1hr
-Banff 1hr 20 min

Other things to note

Please make sure you read the entire description as well as rules as this is not your average Airbnb.
Don’t be scared off by the rules, it’s a lot, but I’m not a soup nazi- I just have to cover my bases.

**The spooky basement has an unfinished basement smell so if your nose is super sensitive this may not be the place for you. No mold or mildew but still.
I like the smell of old houses but I know not everyone does, and honesty is best policy!

Please note that profiles with a lower review rating than 4 stars will not be allowed to book and even if the reservation confirms through the system, the reservation may be cancelled.
